It is a new day and time.The economy is now considerably different.With it, most Americans have less spending money today as they did before.  In terms of the car industry you can see it.With the auto industry seemingly always losing money, you have to know that it is because people just aren’t buying big items. 

With that being the case most Americans will have to keep all their cars much longer.  Keeping a car longer will require maintenance.The better you are able to keep maintenance on your car will dictate how much longer it will last.  So I would like to offer a couple of tips from my experience owning a San Diego auto repair company.

One of the problems that gets overlooked alot is not keeping your car in good clean running order. Why is this important?Because you can’t keep your care running efficiently this could lead to the failure of the smog test.If you can’t pass the smog test, this can be the start of some expensiver repairs.  I have seen this time and time again from doing San Diego smog check.

All you will have to maintain is being sure that the oil is changed and oil filter changed regularly.  Also make sure you keep it tuned up with regular tune ups.

Second thing overlooked is brakes.  You don’t pay much attention to them.  But everybody agrees they are important for safety.  But if you don’t take care of them, they can be an expensive repair.  I should know having to charge my clients to replace their brakes at my San Diego brake shop.

Just make sure when you brake don’t be so rough on them. Anticipate your stops and brake slowly.Also take care in making sure the brake fluids are at reasonable levels.  This can save you a lot of money in repairs.

Do these couple of things and you will save a lot of money in repairs.  When you have to keep your cars longer you will be glad you did.

Kanturk Castle, County Cork Ireland - What’s The Story

“A man’s home is his castle…” so the wise proverb affirms. Iironically in this case, it seems Kanturk Castle never became a place of living. However, what did get built was and is magnificent. The main structure offers 4 story, while each tower has 5 story.

Today as you walk around this beautiful old building, it’s hard to believe that it was raised in about 1601. 4 centuries later and it is still remaining strong. ‘Bualadh bos’ to the stonemasons. (Bualadh bos is Irish/Gaelic for applause or praise) Legend says that sEven stonemasons all named John worked on the Castle. Hence at one time the building was called as “Carrig-na-Shane-Saor” i.e. The Rock of John the Mason.

There are various beliefs on whom specifically the castle was built for. Some think it was MacDonogh MacCarthy, while others say it was Dermot McOwen. Even the dating of the monument cannot be agreed upon. normally it is said to be late 16th century early 17th century.

Why was it that he never lived in it? Well, there is some more to that adage: ‘A man’s home is his castle …, yet that is, ‘until the Queen arrives’. The neighbors of Kanturk Castle were getting a bit bothered about the stature of this building and to the cause of its being. The Privy Council, which was like close counselors to the Queen of England at the time, was told about this and ordered the work on the structure to be kept under wraps. Therefore, ‘A man’s home is his castle until the queen arrives’.

So agitated the overlord was, it’s said that he broke the leaded glass and the tiles and threw them into the river.

Over time after that the possession changed ownership a number of times. Now it is managed by An Taisce - The National Trust for Ireland, since July 14th 2000.

Spain : Madrid’s Famous Parque del Buen Retiro

Retiro Park (or Parque del Buen Retiro) in Madrid is is regarded as one of Madrid’s premier attractions. When you aren’t strolling through the winding walkways dotted with beautiful sculptures, or relaxing in the quiet beauty of the lake, there are many exciting festivals and events to experience.

It used to be the location of a royal palace, and has held numerous historically and culturally significant buildings before and since its public opening in 1868. The Napoleonic wars threatened to destroy the entire palace, but thankfully managed to leave behind many beautiful buildings setting the backdrop for the park and creating a fascinating historical account sure to please any visitor.

The Palacio de Cristal, a glass structure that was originally used to house a variety of exotic plants, and the Palacio de Velzquez, which once held exhibitions for various industries but is now used primarily to display art exhibits, are popular sites within the park grounds. If you enjoy art, the Casn holds another wonderful collection of paintings dating back to the nineteenth century, but do not forget to stop by the Ejrcito, a historically rich museum weaving tales of Spain’s military history.

The centerpiece is large lake near the northern entrance, called the Estanque del Retiro. It’s often busy, particularly in the summer months, with couples and families relaxing by the waters edge and enjoying the scenery and ambiance. For those looking for something a little more exciting, there are boats available for rent which you can use to row around the lake.

Another beautiful feature of the park is the Rosaleda rose garden, enjoyed by both tourists and natives, as well as the nearby Cecilia Rodriguez gardens and Serrano Street’s outstanding restaurants.

Finding authentic Spanish food is easy as you have your choice of delicious cafes. It’s also a place of entertainment and you’ll likely see street musicians and dancers, jugglers and fortune tellers alongside the ordinary citizens who are simply out for a walk.
