Drills for soccer
I’d like to know something from you? How many times do you perform the drills for soccer yourself before allowing the kids to imitate the same? This practice is followed by almost all great coaches. This is the correct move.
Kids learn faster and better by looking at things. You, as a coach, must attempt to execute the drills in front of your kids to cheer them up and encourage them to learn and understand fast. Here are 2 offensive soccer drills that you can teach your kids.
Tight space dribbling: This drill is meant to improve the fitness level of the kids along with helping them making more frequent contacts with the ball. You can make the kids do this drill at the beginning of the session when they are warming up. The advantages of performing this drill are many. It not only warms up the players but also teaches them to keep their head held high while moving about in the field.
Tell every player to get a ball. Draw a 10 by 10 rectangle outline using cones. In order to perform this drill, the players must run around the field changing directions randomly. By this I mean the players should keep on moving to and fro from one point to the other. They should do this for 5 to 10 minutes.
Soccer Drills
In the course of doing it, they should attempt to do different variations like taking an unanticipated turn, or doing tactics that are new and not predictable. The kids have an inclination to focus on the ball very much. They fail to check that the opponents are closing in and eventually lose the ball. With these soccer exercises, the players learn to dribble for small durations of time and keep an eye on the opposition at the same time.
3 v 3; One of the most successful drills for soccer is this. It helps the players practice on wall passes and retains the possession of the ball for longer intervals. However, it’s important that they don’t focus too much on scoring while carrying out the drill. The objective of this drill is to retain the possession of the ball for long periods.
Divide the players into groups or teams of 8. 6 players should place themselves in a line facing each other while the remaining 2 should stand on both sides of the rectangle. The team having the custody of the ball is free to employ players on either side whereas the ones on the sides can tap the ball just once. Also, they are not allowed to score.
This drill does a lot of good to the player’s dribbling skills, control of the ball and shooting abilities. Besides, this soccer practice allows the player’s to improve upon their endurance and strength many times more.
