Drills for soccer
You must be aware that defense is the foundation of any soccer game and the drills for soccer should also teach them to conquer the opposite team’s defense.
Some coaches tend to teach their players to play either defense or offense. Those soccer drills are apt that train all players on defense in case the ball is with the rival team and offense when the ball is in their custody.
The moment players lose the ball’s possession, they should follow it immediately. The one who’s lost the ball should be the first to go after it. Since this player is next to his rival who has the possession of the ball, he must have the potential to put a lot of pressure on him. When the opponent with the ball gets under pressure, he is most likely to make a bad pass or lose the ball.
In your soccer practice, you must make it a point that other players in the team fall back when one of them is following the opponent. They should try to delay him from entering into their team’s goal area.
Soccer Drills
The most risky region is the center of the soccer field. Your drills for soccer must therefore force the opponent with the ball to move towards the touchline. It will result in putting a restriction on the passes he can make along with the number of directions that he can set out to.
It’s the arc of concentration where record number of goals is scored and is also the most hazardous. This arc is in the face of the goal. It begins from the corner post of the goal right through to the corner of the goal box and then squeezes out to the touchline. Therefore, include soccer exercises to train your players on moving the ball outside this area because the chances of your opponent scoring a goal are increased here.
When it comes to defending, success is achieved by maintaining a balance. Over here, the players who are closest to the ball play tight. This means that they stay as close to the ball as possible. Players who are not close to the ball play lose. This puts across the fact that they deal in positions that help them cover everyone and not just a single player.
Your team will be in control when they have the ball. In order to achieve this, snatch the ball away from your opponent as fast as you can. Many coaches make the mistake of allowing their players to tackle the ball. This refers to sliding into the ball without touching the opponent and knocking the ball away from him.
If they miss the ball here, they will be back to the ground and opponents would attack the goal.
