Las Vegas Luxor

Las Vegas Luxor is both a hotel and casino and a focal point of attraction in the Sin City. It is probably one of the places that most people know at least from pictures and documentaries when it comes to touristic attractions around the world. In its place, there used to be the Pyramid House and it is today one of the best-known themed resorts. The name is taken from the city of Luxor, located in the Valley of the Kings in ancient Egypt.

Built in 1991, Las Vegas Luxor underwent renovation in 2007. It contains more than four thousand rooms for tourists, and its public areas have also been renovated to create more adult-appealing lounges, clubs and restaurants. In the same year of the renovation, one of the pyramid’s black surfaced facades advertised for Absolut Vodka but last year, in 2008, the ad was taken off. Reviews say that the former look of Las Vegas Luxor, prior to the renovation, had more of the Egyptian atmosphere than the present-day structure. It used to have a river that surrounded the casino and guests were taken on boat trips to take a look around and to get to that particular casino. Some guests even complained that this mini-tour took too long, which is probably one reason for the removal of this pseudo-attraction. In addition, tourists believed that they could see the ghosts of two of the workers who had died in an accident during the construction period.

The resort Las Vegas Luxor also used to have a night club, a theater and many other attractions. Nowadays things are a little different. CathHouse presently replaces the two former restaurants, and modifications took place at the nightclub as well; fortunately, you can still find the Las Vegas Luxor Steakhouse only under a different name as well as the IMAX theater which has been renovated to offer even greater performance shows.

The design concept of the hotel belongs to Veldon Simpson. Las Vegas Luxor is a thirty-story pyramid of black glass with a truly impressive look. An imitation of the Sphinx of Giza dominates the entrance, as it is placed right above the portico. Another peculiarity of the building is the tower of light directed towards the skin that has the reputation of being one of the most powerful of such beams worldwide.
