How much longer will the tourist industry be operating in the Polar Bear City?

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Churchill is located on the far west coast of Canada. Recently this holiday has become more and more popular. Does this mean that it could be damaged climate change?

Churchill is most famous for its population of Polar bears, who visit every year around autumn to escape the receding ice flows. The polar bears then ram around as they want to, taking over Churchill. Because of this Churchill has been named the Polar Bear capital of the world. This has helped boost the tourist industry around the area, and now tour operators offer Canada tours dedicated to this area, to show people the stunning environment.

Not only is Churchill rare, there is also another rare occurance, it is an Ecotone. An Ecotone is a environmental phenomenon where there is an abrupt change in environmental circumstances. Basically it stands on a border between three very different environments. They are the Boreal forest to the south, the Tundra climate to the north east and the Hudson Bay to the north. If you have never seen the Aurora Borealis then this one of the best places on the planet. Not only does this area have all the se attributes, it is also home to the Beluga whales in summer, over 57,000 of them, and has a very extensive amunt of bird fauna that cover the whole area.

Churchill has become extremely reliant on the tourism industry, but how long will it be able to support tourists. The simple way to put it, is that Churchill is on the border between three dramatic climate and environmental differences. The tourism industry will fail. Canada holidays benefit greatly from this environmental phenomenon, but how much longer will it last. Alaska Cruises also circle round to this area, so maybe that holiday is better sooner rather than later.

Here are two completely different holidays, this may help you decide on one this year!

If you have been thinking about going on a holiday this year but you’re not sure which holiday is best for you, here are two holidays at either end of the spectrum for you. Trying to consider two different holidays can be confusing, but it all depends on what you will really enjoy the most.

Well let’s start off with sunny locations in the Caribbean, more specifically St Lucia. Recently this is the place to be, holiday bookings have increased, which is strange considering the economic climate. All you need to see is a few pictures of St Lucia and you will fall in love with it straight away. Everything is the best of the best here, the people are nice and the surroundings are perfect.

This holiday is designed for those that want to chill out and enjoy the rays of the sun. It doesn’t take much effort at all, all you need to do is grab a nice spot on the beach and spend a good 7 days lazing having a few drinks. No matter who you are, you will still enjoy relaxing bu the seaside. The warm atmosphere all year round and the welcoming local people is a great incentive for a relaxing beach holiday.

Now if you still don’t think that the Caribbean is convincing enough, then consider this. Canada holidays offer some of us the more outgoing and adventure style holidays. Although there are places to relax like on an Alaska Cruise, the country of Canada is more set around helping you to enjoy life by taking you on a journey. Canada has so much to offer in the way of hiking, taking tours and visiting historic landmarks. Places like Yukon where the Mounties where first established, and the Gold Rush on the Highway first kicked off.  Fly Drive Canada Holidays have also become a popular consideration for tourists from across the world.

Both Destinations have something to offer to everyone, but personally the Canada holiday is for me, it gives so much to any tourist that visits.
