Just One More Day In Paradise

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Do you have any idea how lucky you are to be living at the beach? If you do, great, but if you’re one of those who worries about diets that work fast instead of enjoying the beach, it’s time for a wake up call.

Think about it. You can go to the beach anytime you like, but you don’t. It’s usually for stupid reasons, too. Maybe you’re waiting until you have achieved your weight loss goals or something. While you’re spending your time depriving yourself of what’s yours for the taking, millions of others are working themselves to death trying to save up for a vacation at the beach for just a few days out of the year.

That’s completely nuts. For one thing, you’ll get a tan at the beach a lot faster than you will anyplace else. For another, if you go to the beach and swim, jog or play volleyball, you’ll lose a lot more weight than you will staying home and starving yourself and you’ll have fun doing it!

If you’re living near the beach, you should be grateful for the opportunity and take advantage of everything the beach lifestyle has to offer. A day at the beach is better than a day at a spa. There’s nothing like the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea for stress relief. There’s nothing more invigorating than diving into the ocean. If there are waves at your beach, it’s better than Disneyland!

There’s only one good excuse to leave the beach and that’s to make a meal. You can’t take Camerons stovetop smoker to the beach with you and make it work, so you’ll have to use it at home. You can, however, enjoy your meal at the beach after it’s cooked.

If you’re not convinced yet, try this. The next time it’s really hot, go to the part of the beach where the tourists go. Just sit down and watch them. Do you see them stressing out about their weight or their tan. All of that is forgotten, because they’re just so happy to be at the beach. See what you’ve got through their eyes and realize that you live in paradise!

Remember that and don’t take your good fortune for granted anymore. You’ve got a lifestyle at your fingertips that most people would kill for. Enjoy what you’ve got and be thankful for it. You’ve got it made if you live at the beach.

Forget Work, It’s Time To Take A Break

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

If you work at home or telecommute, it can seem as if you are always working. Sometimes it is difficult to separate work and home life. It is often tempting to head back into your home office after dinnertime to get just one more project completed and let the family suffer.

When you find yourself in this rut, put the work back into your home office storage and start packing for a mini vacation. Every season has a great break to offer you.

During the cold temperatures of winter, the ski slopes are perfect. You will find lots of fresh powder on those slopes so dig out the salomon ski equipment, gather some of the high protein snacks you have made with your black decker food processor, round up the family and head up to the ski resort.

When summer arrives, one low cost mini vacation is a trip to the beach. Take your time to enjoy the sun and the water so that you can be refreshed as you hit your work again tomorrow and get something accomplished.

During the spring and autumn, you will find the perfect days for a hike through the woods or a drive in the country. Amusement park fans will find smaller crowds most days as the kids are still in school. For a lower cost break, head to a local park or even to visit the local zoo.

Mini vacations do not have to be long. Sometimes it only takes an afternoon but at other times you may want to take a Friday and Monday to stretch a weekend into four days. Once you return to your work, you will have a fresh perspective and be able to get more done than if you had continued your normal hectic schedule.

Everyone needs some time to play. Pressures of work and family often leave us feeling disconnected. A mini vacation allows us time for refocusing and redirecting our energies so that we are more prepared for the challenges of life.

How long has it been since you took time to play? You may only need a few hours or a few days with family to relax and enjoy the things around you. There is no need to wait. You can make arrangements today and have a break next week. Having the plans can motivate you to get things done today that should be done. Then you can leave work with no worries until you return.
