How To Get A Much Better Sense Of The History Of The Caribbean

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

The Caribbean district is without a doubt one of the most frequented regions of the world, specifically for those people who are in love and want to enjoy their honeymoon in a very romantic setting. The richCaribbeanhistory is also one of many reasons why tourists continue to come in the area.

There are just so many things that you could go to and revel in the Caribbean, and so most of the visitors often feel so overwhelmed by the experience. But when you are curious about the three most significant areas of the region’s history, then you have to find out where to go to get a better feel of its abundant history.

If you try to find out about the history of the Caribbean, you will definitely encounter how America was discovered by Columbus in 1492. The Caribbean was said to be the landing site of Columbus, but he ended up in the Bahamas instead. The spot where Columbus could have first set foot on is certainly a well-known area for visitors and newly-weds on their honeymoon. Although it is still unsure where exactly he landed, it is such an wonderful feeling to be in a place where a remarkable historical event exactly happened.

The sad truth is that slavery is an important part of the Caribbean history. Most of the time, a visit to the locations where slaves were made to work is a part of every tourist’s itinerary. Even though this is a very unfortunate part of the region’s history, it is still vital that you be aware of this to acquire a better perception of how life was in this region hundreds of years ago.

Another thing that is usually mentioned when speaking of the history of theCaribbean is the region’s well-known drink-rum. There are lots of distilleries situated all over the islands which you may want to check out. You could taste here some of the world’s finest rums, and to be in the actual place where it is made to perfection is an incredible experience. Furthermore, you can find onBay Street inNassau the only Bacardi store there is in the world.

Live Like Ernest Hemmingway And Catch Some Marlin On A Fishing Excursion In The Deep Waters Of The Bahamas

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Organize a place to stay right away and set yourself up for some of the most thrilling deep-sea fishing trips that you’ve had the chance to do ñ due to the fact that the waters surrounding the Bahamas are home to some of the largest, hungriest marlin as well as sailfish in the ocean!

You will not need to venture far from the seashore to get in some thrilling fishing on the doorstep of your Bahamas beach vacation rental, though, you’ll find that the bonefish which whiz along coast like streaks of quicksilver are in abundance. Add to that some world-class flyfishing to take advantage of away from the shore and in the island’s peaceful lagoons, you’ll discover a range of fishing opportunities sure to please the most obsessive angler ñ as well as encourage him to come back for years to come.

When accompanied by friends, it’s really rather economical to rent one of the fine Bahamian Caribbean beach vacation homes for a week or two in order to begin your angling exploration not too far from your front door. The timid bonefish happens to be a critter that you’ll be able to fish far easier along the coast then bring home to enjoy at breakfast to prepare you for your excursion in the waters beyond the Out Islands (which are the 700 islands which make up the Bahamian archipelago outside of Grand Bahama and New Providence).

As you’re sailing, you will discover that blue marlin happens to be one of many big game fish cruising around the deep. Neighboring the American state of Florida as well as a little towards the north of the Caribbean, the waters drifting on to the Bahamas contain large populations of tuna, dolphin (mahimahi), kingfish and others.

But don’t take our word for it. Do a bit of research on celebrated author Ernest Hemingway, who lived on the Bahamian island of Bimini for while during the 1930s and study what his feelings were about the fishing. In fact, romantic getaways on Bimini comprise the perfect place to stay during your deep-sea fishing vacation; these two small islands are situated adjacent to the Gulf Stream, a current which drifts from the Gulf of Mexico to Western Europe (and protects the Continent from becoming a deep freeze). The Gulf Stream is also the central route for migrating big game fish.

Is there any more for us to say?

Also, the reason why Bahamas beach vacation rentals at Bimini are the perfect location to embark on your fishing adventure is because of Binimi Bay’s accessibility to the U.S. Under 50 miles from the south Florida coast, it’s easy to find a skipper and a boat during your day on the water. Allow yourself an expenditure between $500 and $1000 for a four or eight-hour trip (the cost of which can be split between up to six people) plus remember to bring your own provisions (bait and tackle are usually provided, however).

To learn more about the Bahamas in general or just Bimini particularly, log-on to The Out Islands of the Bahamas on the World Wide Web (http://www.myoutislands.com/). This site provides an abundance of facts on holiday rentals, charters and more.
