Lads’ Vacations At Mexico Hotels

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Staying at Mexico hotels with your mates is a great way to explore this country that offers plenty of sun, sea and sports.

Famed for its nightlife as well as its national drinks of Corona beer, margaritas and tequila, Mexico is the ideal place for you and your mates to party, especially during the spring break. So if you’re looking to book a lively stag party to the popular resorts then this is the time to do it – book early though as cheap hotels do get very busy during this period. Most lads seem to head for the popular resorts of Acapulco, Cancun and Cabo San Lucas, renowned for their vibrant nightlife as well as the beaches. For night-long dancing until the early hours and live entertainment, head for the Senor Frogs and Coco Bongo nightclubs in Cancun.

Mexican food is very spicy and like the climate, is quite hot. Try and savour some of the authentic Mexican food during your stay, you won’t be disappointed. There is a wide range of spicy traditional dishes to try, like quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, nachos and tacos. Desserts are equally delicious with the traditional crème caramel flan available in an array of yummy flavours.

Whether it’s fantastic football or wacky wrestling, Mexico offers some great spectator sports. Lucha libre or Mexican wrestling, in particular, is an action-packed, spandex-filled activity providing a break from the beach. Popular venues for this sport are the Arena Mexico in Mexico City and Cancun Plaza de Toros, where you might be lucky and see the famous wrestlers El Mistico and El Hijo del Perro. If wrestling isn’t for you, there are also plenty of football matches played at the weekends. If your mates are into water sports, visit the fabulous beaches at Cabo San Lucas and Cancun, where there are a range of facilities available. There is so much to do here from sailing, fishing, snorkelling and even white water rafting available through the local hotels and other outlets. Scuba diving in particular is an excellent way to explore the true beauty of the Baja Peninsula.

Visit The Best Of Gozo From Malta Hotels.

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Roughly the size of Manhattan, Gozo is a small island off the coast of Malta. Malta hotels offer close proximity to the attractions of Gozo including the Ggantija temples. ‘Gozo’ means ‘joy’ in Castilian and this aptly describes the islanders’ attitude to life. Only 5km from Malta, Gozo inhabitants have a largely different way of life and like an uncomplicated existence.

For such a small space, Gozo has an unusually large number of churches on the island. One of Gozo’s biggest churches is the Xewkija church with a its huge dome. Ramla Bay and San Blas are two popular beaches on Gozo. The quieter San Blas beach is a great spot to relax and recuperate. Ramla Bay is the more popular destination. Known locally as ‘The Red Sandy Beach’ on account of the orangey-red sand there, excavations under the beach at Ramla Bay have discovered Roman remains.

One famous Gozo landmark is the ‘Azure Window’. The arch is a striking natural rock creation. Located at Dwejra Bay, a good place to scuba dive, it has appeared in the films ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ and ‘Clash of The Titans’. Impressively measuring well over 22 metres, it is now beginning to crumble away. There are many cheap hotels within easy reach of this landmark so make sure you see it while you can.

Il Fontana is a small village on Gozo famous for its springs. Some of the shelters where people would sit and wash their clothes, date back to the C16th century and still remain in tact. As well as this the village hosts a spectacular feast day in mid-June. Travellers flock to Nadur during carnival season. People stay in Malta hotels and then catch the ferry over to participate in the fun. In fact, during the summer season, there is bound to be a feast, dancing and live music with fireworks too, happening on some part of Gozo.

Exploring Europe From Cheap Hotels

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

There is a rail network amongst the resorts in Europe with cheap hotels that links Europe to the Mediterranean and on to Scandinavia. The InterRail Global Pass enables you to explore Europe, which has got to be better than the usual boring summer holidays sat on a beach somewhere in the drizzle. With 30 countries opened up by InterRail, there should be something for everyone.

InterRail passes are not valid however for trains in this country. This being the case, you’ll have to find a cheap way to travel to mainland Europe to use the InterRail Global Pass. Upon arriving in Europe, the world is your oyster, as the pass is valid in 30 countries.

Europe is becoming increasingly well-known for staging some of the best music festivals worldwide; one of the best being the Spanish Festival Internacional de Benicassim. Set in a stunning location, it combines theatre, fashion, art, cinema and music. Once partied out, it is worth looking into hotel deals and booking yourself into Barcelona where you’ll be able to explore one of the cultural centres of Europe. Must-sees are the famous Las Ramblas and its plethora of shops; the Miro museum; and Gaudi’s Park Guell – a garden-city created by the artist in his inimitable style.

Florence is ideal for art lovers; a shrine to the Renaissance, the city is full of galleries and monuments celebrating its artistic heritage. The most important gallery, probably in the whole of Italy has to be The Uffizi Gallery. Constructed in the 16th Century by the Medici, The Uffizi Gallery displays work by Michelangelo, Raphael, Caravaggio, and da Vinci.

There are many hotels in Dubrovnik, some with their own private beaches. One of the best cheap hotels in the city is the Hotel Adriatic and it comes highly recommended. Close to Lapad beach, the Hotel Adriatic is also nearby some of Dubrovnik’s most famous tourist attractions, including the Pile Gate and Onofrio’s Fountain.

Mountains And Minarets: City Breaks, Beach Holidays And Turkey Hotels

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Turkey travel guides nearly always open with a description of Turkey’s liminality; this is a place that extends across two continents, incorporating Balkan, Aegean and Middle Eastern characteristics along the way. Today the ruins of ancient Hittite cities stand evocatively beside those of Roman theatres and temples, while Orthodox incantations can be heard against the backdrop of Islamic adhans. Throughout the year tourists from all over Europe head to mighty domes and soaring Minarets of Istanbul, while the advent of spring sees package tourists and beach lovers gather in Turkey’s sun-kissed western shores. The famously warm local hospitality, mind-bogglingly attractive scenery and unbeatable value for money draws tourists back to Turkey hotels year after year.

Side

As developers have sought to respond to ever increasing demand from tourists for affordable Turkey hotels, the ancient port of Side has undergone some pretty significant and sometimes unsympathetic, changes in recent years. Despite its rapid rise, Side remains an attractive resort that has plenty to offer visitors. The Temple of Apollo’s remaining Corinthian columns overlook Side’s wonderful beaches and the archaeological traces of its classical past. For a break from the beach, Aspendos is only 25km along the coast and its monumental Roman theatre is Turkey’s answer to Epidaurus.

Belek

Another of Turkey’s rapidly up-and-coming resorts, Belek is one of those places that have to be seen to be believed.  It’s a spot of quite incredible natural beauty. Pristine, golden sandy beaches are sandwiched between lush, tree-swathed mountains and butterfly blue bays. And just down the coast from the outstanding Roman and Hellenistic site at Perge, it’s a great destination for culture vultures. However, Belek has another side. A clutch of newly built luxury hotels offering 7-star opulence have seen Belek touted as the Turkish answer to Dubai.

Oludeniz

Instantly recognisable from the covers of dozens of brochures and guidebooks, the azure lagoon and white sands of Oludeniz mean this idyllic stretch of Turkish coast is regularly included in lists of the world’s best beaches. Just 10km south of Fethiye, where holidaymakers base themselves, it is within easy reach by the local dolmuses. With warm, if occasionally turbid, waters from early spring, the lagoon is ideal for more sedate water sports such as kayaking, whereas motorised sports are allowed in the open sea and are a staple of many all inclusive and cheap hotels in Turkey.

Benidorm Hotels: Trips And Excursions

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

Arguably the birthplace of the package holiday, Benidorm is a great place for a family holiday. If you’re looking for an affordable, action-packed holiday then a trip to Benidorm hotels is ideal. Prior to the 1960s, Benidorm was a small fishing village but today it is known for its beaches, bars and hotels. Families flock to the town every year, due to the proximity of 4 theme parks nearby.

If you’re looking to see more of Benidorm and the surrounding area, then there are many unique Spanish towns nearby, which are worth exploring. The ancient castle in Guadalest, which was built by the Moors in 1200 AD is a great place to visit. When visiting the castle, notice the smooth walls, which have been worn away by the passage of pack horses over the years. The village has a craft centre and several bars, which have been incorporated into the surrounding rock. You are able to take a ferry to Calpe from hotels in Benidorm, to spend a day looking around the modern shops and bars or simply to relax on the beaches there. Denia is a mere 30-minute car drive away from Benidorm. {The Old Town leads down to a harbour and fish market}. It is possible to try out various water sports here, or you can catch a ferry to nearby Ibiza.

Denia is famous for its narrow gauge railway that runs through 17 tunnels and ends up in Alicante. You can find some of the nicest beaches in Moraira, which sits in a pretty bay below some imposing mountains. The village used to be used for fishing many years ago, but today its main industry is tourism and it has a host of shops, bars and restaurants. The old Moorish fort here, is also worth a visit.

Keep the whole family entertained by heading to the theme parks of Terra Mitica and Terra Natura, which are great for families staying in the cheap hotels nearby. The Ancient World is the theme of Terra Mitica and the park has 5 zones, representing the ancient civilisations of Rome, Greece, Iberia, Egypt and The Islands. The Park incorporates roller coaster rides with live entertainment. Just outside Benidorm is the sister park of Terra Natura, located on the northern hillsides. It mixes together a theme park with a zoo. Also there, is Aqua Natura; a water park featuring flumes and scary rides. There is entertainment here with circus shows, puppet shows, musical concerts and even theatre.
