London and its places of interest

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I was to visit London to transact some business. My supplier I have been with for the past 10 years invited me. I went to two other European countries, France and Holland for the same purpose. I was happy that I was to visit the City because I have read so much about it and wanted to know if all that I read during my school days were true. I wanted to see a lot of London so I booked two different hotels for my stay. A week in Russell Square and a week in London Victoria.

I arrived at the Heathrow international Airport on British airways and after going through the immigration formalities, I took a mini cab and was taken straight to the Tavistock hotel on Tavistock Square in Russell square. You will get many good standard hotels in Russell Square Bloomsbury district.

I realised why a lot of tourists like the place. I myself fell in love with it the very day I was there. I just took my street map and just stepped out of the hotel to start the Central London tour. I was so happy with what I saw in London because it was not different from what I thought of it. I first visited the British Museum which I understand has over 7 million items from all over the world and also visited British Library all in Russell Square. I moved from the British Museum to the Covent garden and found a lot of street performers as I have read in books.

For the rest of the week at Tavistock hotel London, I visited the West end area. A visit to west End would not have been a complete one without visiting Oxford Circus and Marble Arch. I came to realise that the Leicester square is not Theatreland just for the sake of it. the whole area is full of Theatres. From Leicester Square, I proceeded to Piccadilly Circus and found the place to be very busy and exciting. I paid a visit to the shopping streets in the West End area on my 5th day and was surprised to see that the place was so dense with shoppers and other tourists. The Bond street, the Regent street and the Oxford Strret are very busy shopping streets but I found the Oxford Street to be the busiest. The China Town and the Soho were just off the Oxford Street so I took the opportunity to vist the area.

I went to stay in Victoria area in my second week as booked through Cheap London hotels agency. The Landmarks close to Victoria enticed me to book to stay there for one week. I saved the best for the last. I was in Buckingham Palace the very day i arrived at Victoria to witness the changing of the guard. I was so anxious to visit the Tower clock also called the Big Ben for what I have read. The Big Ben is just at the same location as the Houses of Parliament. I also took a trip to the Westminster Abbey at the Parliament Square. Finally, I went to have a look at the London Eye. It is a fantastic piece of architecture. The London ey will continue to be one of the best Landmarks in London for quite sometime. I enjoyed my stay in Central London and I would like to stay in the cheap hotels in Russell square as they have good accommodation standard but lower rates.

The Effects of Credit crunch on London hotels

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

London is not only a business centre; it is also a very vibrant city. Reasons oor purpose of visiting London are not always the same for everyone. Some London Visitors come to the city to do business and some are also visit to do some sightseeing. There are a lot of popular tourists’ attractions. The Trafalgar Square, London Eye, Westmninster Abbey are some of the most visited Landmarks. There are others who also who cannot resist shopping in the great Capital. Bond street, Regent street and the famous shopping street in Europe the Oxford street have a high concentration of shops.

Businesses fear collapse which the world economic crisis will bring. Many businesses are closing down and making people redundant. There has been a lot of redundancies in many industries. Experts say that it will take sometime for big economies to to recover from the current world economic crisis. There is one industry which the Credit crunch has not affected. The London hotel industry it is. What are the effects so far on Hotel industry? The article talks only about London hotels and bed and breakfast.

The current economic crisis do not seem to have an impact on the London hotels industry yet according to my little research. Our booking Agency has been working with bed and breakfast and big hotels for a very long time. There has not been a slow down since I started my research. Hotels to date continue to be busy.

If hotels are getting full or already full for some dates, if they have registered with us, can log on and close out those dates. It is so surprising that, in this economic crisis, hotels get full up in the weekdays and every weekend
.
Between March and July was the peak period for London hotels in 2008. Hotels were almost full everyday. Because hotels are closing out dates on the system all the time, there are not rooms for us to book for our guests. Some hotels are over booked for certain dates ahead at london hotels. Hotels can sometimes become over booked and they even have to book out some guest to other hotels. One wonders why our agency is not getting rooms to book for our clients. This is because hotels have closed out dates on the system.

Why may be the London hotel industry is still booming is that the British pound is now week and travellers get more when the shop in London. In view of that, London hotels are always busy because of the inflow of tourists. However, the Pound was strong in some part of the past year. It was even stronger than many of the major currencies. Is it London’s popularity and importance that has made it unavoidable during this economic crisis? The research is not yet complete; I am still monitoring the hotel industry. London Hotels will offer lower rates to travellers if the economic crisis spread to their industry. This is because they will be guaranteed special London hotel offers, cheap London hotels accommodation and also cheap London bed and breakfast rates. The Tavistock hotel London is an example of such hotels.
