Short Cruises: European Cruise Holidays

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

If you are going to take a cruise this year on vacation, forget the Caribbean, Europe is the destination of choice. Think of all the culture, all the history, all the great food that will greet you at every European port.

European cruises leave from almost every main seaport in Europe. They often cover a specific region of Europe, although some companies do offer a whirlwind tour of the major sites right around the European coastline.

Centered in Northern Europe, the Baltic States and Scandinavia are popular cruise spots, particularly the ones within the fjords of Norway. Here, you are able to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes where mountains stand tall as towers in each way, and where glaciers and waterfalls are practically within your hands’ reach. The cities are quite majestic as well. If you are feeling adventurous and do a little research you can find great walking tours of all the major cities of Scandinavia and fit them right into your European cruise.

Ireland, France, the Low Countries and the British Isles are all apart of a European cruise. Scottish castles, the emerald green landscapes of Ireland and a visit to a French vineyard and chateaux are just some of the highlights of a cruise around Western Europe. Another option would be incorporating trips to historical ports of call like England’s Portsmouth, in which Nelson’s ‘Victory’ could be visited.

Take in the amazingly beautiful and historical Mediterranean Coastline as you move deep into the southern areas like the Mediterranean Sea. The French Riviera, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, Greece, and Spain all boast their very own sites to visit. Those who have selected a European cruise on the Mediterranean can expect to see the Salvador Dali’s birthplace, the famed Turkish bazaars, Monaco’s grandiose vista and the coliseum of Rome.

Each region of the Mediterranean has their own specialist tours as well. Visit Spain’s Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera Islands and get lost in the legends of what happened to their earliest inhabitants and enjoy your Mediterranean cruise.

Cruise Review: European Cruise Holidays

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Cruises in Europe tend to be the most popular choices world round. Amazing cities, historical artifacts of ancient cultures of long past, incredible scenery, all of these wait for the tourist at each port of call on European cruises.

Nearly all major seaports have European cruises that depart from them. Some companies do a large variety of sites around the coastline, while most of the time the European cruises focus on a certain area of Europe.

Starting in Northern Europe, cruises around Scandinavia and the Baltic States are popular, especially those that take in the Norwegian fjords. Here, you are able to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes where mountains stand tall as towers in each way, and where glaciers and waterfalls are practically within your hands’ reach. Scandinavia offers a wealth of old and stately cities to visit too. Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, and Stockholm can all be parts of your European cruise, with Helsinki specifically being home to the Uspenski Cathedral, the most massive orthodox church in the western parts of Europe.

Low Countries, British Isles, Ireland and France are all included in the Western European cruises. Some of the highlights of a Western Europe cruise include the lush green scenery of Ireland, the Scottish castles and the trip to French vineyard and chateaux. You can also visit famous ports in England, like Newcastle, which has a wide and varied history.

Moving further south into the Mediterranean Sea, a European cruise takes in the glory of the historical and beautiful Mediterranean coastline. Portugal, Spain, the French Riviera, Italy, Croatia, Greece and Turkey all have their own attractions. The famed Turkish bazaars, The Coliseum of Rome, Monaco’s grandiose vista, and even the birthplace of Salvador Dali all welcome those who decide to take a Europe Cruise within the Mediterranean.

Each region of the Mediterranean has their own specialist tours as well. Visit Spain’s Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera Islands and get lost in the legends of what happened to their earliest inhabitants and enjoy your Mediterranean cruise.

Look For A Relaxing Holiday – Here Are Some Options

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

9 out of 10 people use their holidays to escape their daily lives for a bit and achieve a state of relaxation. Most only get a few weeks a year to enjoy their holidays so they choose the chilled out variety. Of course everyone finds different types of holidays relaxing, from a luxury cruise to trekking the rain forest.  Here are some of the more popular choices though.

Beach holidays.Almost since modern holidays began, the beach vacation has the been the getaway of choice for anyone seeking a bit of R & R. This is most likely the case due to the fact you don’t really have to stand up very much, you can sip lovely drinks and top up your tan at the same time.  Some people however get stressed and flustered by hot weather, so whilst it is clearly a popular choice, it is not hands down winner.

Cruises. Cruise holidays, especially river cruise holidays are another popular choice for those seeking a relaxing time. There is everything you could possibly need on a cruise ship within a five minute walk, so you never need to worry about traveling around or forgetting to take anything with you. Also, you can get to experience some of the finest sites that earth has to offer without actually having to put any effort into getting there. Also with cruises such as Oceania cruises, you’ve got a high chance of enjoying some great sun as well so you don’t miss out here either.

City Breaks. This type of holiday may not immediately conjuror up images of relaxation for you. However, you’d be amazed at how many people enter the mode of being a tourist. This is a very strange phenomenon where tourists stroll around the city in a trance like state, studying the architecture and watching the people go about their business. The effect of this tends to cause people to become very relaxed and enter a happy-go-lucky state of mind, where they can really enjoy themselves and release any stress built up.
