Friday, January 14th, 2011

Sharm el Sheikh is so much more than a holiday destination. There is plenty to keep you occupied, from the five-star service to the more adventurous activities. With a vast desert occupying the whole area, there are lots of activities available that make best use of the space, such as camel riding and ancient tours in neighbouring cities. Many of the hotels offer bus and coach services that will take you to the more far-flung sites. Here are some of the best places to go on your cheap holidays to Sharm el Sheikh:

Desert Safari

Before you ask, a desert safari is nothing like a tropical one! These safari’s allow you to see the history of this ancient desert. Take a camel or buggy on the tour, which takes place throughout the day. This means you can see the early morning dawn and take in the amazing panoramic view.

Day Trip to Cairo

Cairo takes a couple of hours to get to, but its well worth it. The capital of Egypt is Africa’s largest city and home to some of the country’s most famous sights. Head to the Egyptian Museum for a historical and cultural feast. The building houses 165,000 Egyptian artefacts. The priceless treasures of King Tutankhamen are the main attraction. His six stunning gold gilded coffins dominate the main hall. The most famous artefact has to the the beautifully preserved Death Mask though.

Mount Sinai

If you are interested in religion, take a tour of one of the most famous Christian and Jewish spots on your all inclusive holidays to Sharm el Sheikh. Located along the Red Sea, it is famous for being the location where Moses received the Ten Commandments. A popular activity is to retrace the footsteps Moses took as you take in the stunning desert sunrise. Nearby is St. Catherine’s Monastery. With almost 500 steps to the summit, it takes a while to climb!

Great Sphinx of Giza

The Sphinx is located in Cairo too. The statue depicts a mythical creature with a lion’s body and a human head which stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza. It holds the record for being the largest monolith statue in the world. It is impossible to measure the scale of this artefact without visiting it yourself. It is also the oldest known monumental sculpture, and was believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom.

If you plan on travelling a lot, a great location to stay on cheap holidays to Sharm el Sheikh is the Hilton Sharks Bay Resort, located in the beautiful area of Ras Nasrani. The hotel also offers dining with amazing views overlooking the Red Sea and boasts excellent facilities such as tennis courts, a volleyball court, and even a private beach. Egypt holds children in hospital for fear of Swine Flu!

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

The world is still being attacked by Swine Flu. It was coming to that point where, we all thought that the Swine Flu epidemic was starting to end. We are now aware that Swine Flu has travelled almost the entire Globe now. Swine Flu is has been the planets enemy for a while now, but what are the symptoms that we can “really” expect to experience?

Swine Flu is something that can be distinguished relatively easily from the “normal” strain of Flu. It is often described as something that a normal Flu could never make you feel like. Flu travels through the Human body at a slower rate, and doesn’t get to its worse state for a couple of days. Compared to other Viruses, Swine Flu is a fast acter, it damages the body as quikcly as possible. The Symptoms that you get with Swine Flu are very much the same as those that you get from the Common Flu, such as Back aches and muscle ache, Nausea. Some symptoms are much much worse than normal, they are described by doctors and people who have had the virus, to be more than 10 times as bad as normal Flu.

Tourism is once again being dealt a blow due to the Swine Flu Virus. Although the school half term time is supposed to be a time for families to go on holiday, it is proving to be particularly nasty for some that headed to Egypt, guards suspected they might have Swine Flu. The place these people were taken to has been slammed, the conditions were horrible. After their body heats were monitored as above normal in the airport at Sharm El Sheikh, they were rushed to a hospital with other Brit families. This has proved that the Swine Flu virus on’t be going away quietly, and now with Premiership football players being diagnosed with the virus, it shows it’s still spreading.

Egypt holidays have received a bit of a crash recently; Caribbean holidays including St Lucia holidays have been very successful through the Swine Flu period.

The Top alcoholic drink in the world!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

It confuses me why people argue about which drinks are the most popular and the best. For the record, the alcoholic drink with the most sales in general is beer! So now that I have cleared up that the Beer is the king of all the alcoholic drinks, why don’t we all just sit down and look at what the popular drinks are in different countries, I have picked some randoms. So let’s start somewhere random then move onto some larger places:

Cuba is the place of cocktails. The Cuban cocktail country, is ready to divulge to you one of its most amazing drinks, that we all love called the Cuba Libre. Cuba Libre, this is a very easy and quick drink to make up, with only three ingredients, mainly Rum and coke, with a slice of lime. People really do seem to like this simple and easy to prepare drink. Like the Cosmopolitan, the Mojito is also a great favourite for tourists.

And now to stop at Egypt. Slightly larger than Cuba and receives more tourists each year. Stella, this is Egypt’s biggest beer. Now I know what you’re thinking, and no it’s not the Artois version. This beer does have a decent 4.5%ABV which is when you think about it quite a high strength. It is actually owned by Heineken and is brewed in a brewery called Alaham Beverages.

Now we have America, the biggest of the lot. is there one that you have in mind? Probably not what you would presume, but the fastest selling beer is a Budweiser beer, but not Bud. It may come as a surprise, but it’s Bud Light. This is the alcoholic drink that is great for one and only one reason, that it doesn’t get you drunk very quickly. Although Bud the original is very close, it’s little brother is a bigger seller than itself in the States.

So are you seeking for Egypt holidays, Cuba holidays or how about something a little more unique like Maldives holidays, where you can build your own maybe more odd cocktail?

Desert cars!

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Which of these cars do you believe to be the best suited to driving across the desert. There isn’t much competition when you have to really think about which cars are best designed for this environment. I will give you three categories of cars, best suited for these conditions, all you need to do is decide which of these is the best and which type, I will of course help out a bit.

The majestic Dune Buggy. Sounds pretty obvious really doesn’t it, and no there isn’t just one of these, there is a whole range of them. The majority being custom built, with 1-2 litre engines, anything bigger and things don’t work properly. Travelling fast is what makes the Dune Buggy a good choice for this sort of terrain. This is a small and malleable car, easy to fix and very fast and lightweight, it has a lot of endurance.

Here comes the SUV. The family aspect has really started to bring this car down, now it is more of a family car, no longer a good off road-er. So becuase of this family transformation, they have been messed up a little, but they are a 4×4 car, so they can probably still perform quite well. This car has one advantage that the Buggy is lacking, the fact it can carry a lot, and shields you from the sand. However the Dune Buggy still has more potential than the Dune Buggy, namely it’s speed and suspension.

This is the king, but our master has his flaws. The Monster Truck, without a doubt the best all terrain vehicle. When you consider that these cars are usually built at home, they are quite an awesome creation. These cars have a supremely unmatchable amount of power, and the suspension is great, being able to travel over harsh land. Watch that fuel gauge go down, from the moment you start the engine to the moment you travel 30 feet. This is the only bad point, you need to make sure you have plenty of fuel, which means you can’t go to fast.

So which of these is the best to vacate around on Egypt holidays, you may want use one for Maldives holidays, but only if it can float.
