Gay Tourism - Why It Is Still A Profitable Market

For a number of years statistics have shown the gay tourism market is expanding. More money is being identified as being spent by gay travelers who often are older and have more disposable income to spend on luxuries such as travel. Many tourism operators have identified with this niche market and other specialist gay tours, cruises, destinations etc. For this market.

The trend for gay tourism has been for it to move out of the shadows and become a real focus for tour operators, hotels, airlines, and regional tourist boards. Major players in these fields are active participants at gay and lesbian travel conferences and see it as a way of finding out what the market wants.

With the mainstreaming of gay tourism the focus has moved away from highlighting traditional gay tourist spots to encompassing the entire range of destinations. Gay perspectives on attractions are also emerging - there are now more targeted books and it is not uncommon to see a title such as Gay perspective on the Prado Museum.

There is some divide in the gay tourist market as to whether some travelers want gay targeted travel or not. Sydney has won numerous travel awards as a popular and rewarding city to visit.  A Gay vacation to Sydney Australia is no exception. The attitude of the locals is tolerant and generally gay friendly making it the prime destination in the Southern Hemisphere. Combine this with the natural beauty and the cultural attractions - Sydney is a winner.

This parade and celebration is held each year in late February and it is a Mecca for fun. The main gay district of Sydney is centered around Oxford Street; affectionately know as the pink stip. Here there are many gay friendly bars and clubs and a wide range of shopping opportunities from start up designers to the much more high end range of shopping options.
