Spring is here and that can only mean one thing, the Wedding Season!Whether you’re going to travel abroad for your ceremony or you’re going to get wedded here and travel abroad for your honeymoon you’ll want to stay somewhere luxurious.
Used to be that a girl wanted a church wedding, these days though it’s becoming more popular to tie the knot on a beach somewhere tropical, white sand instead of confetti and palm trees instead of chapel bells. However, if you are getting married at home the glamour of the wedding of Prince William to the now Princess Katherine has forced every bride and groom to be to up their game when it comes to lavishness of their luxury holiday.
For many taking a flight out to the Bahamas with your family in tow is something of a pipe dream so what are the options if you have champagne tastes but a lemonade budget?
Laterooms.com has found in a survey that they carried out recently that 82% of Britons are feeling the pinch and won’t be able to pay for the honeymoon they want while 76% say they are going to take shorter breaks. Most people want to have a long honeymoon but 12% say they would settle for a break away for a week or less, 45% would take a ten day trip. So, while the dream would be to spend 14 nights on luxury tailor made holidays on a Caribbean island soaking up the sun and rum punches the reality is more likely to be a week somewhere in Europe, at least it will be for 54% of honeymooners.
The money issue isn’t the only facet that is keeping people from taking two weeks or more away, the fact that people can’t be away from work for that long is a major consideration too. 54% say that they simply aren’t able get that kind of time off for things like luxury cruises.
Lynda Matthews of Laterooms.com said that she felt the days of the exotic honeymoon “to the Caribbean are behind us with many Brits opting for better value breaks to celebrate their honeymoon period.”
