Red Sea Watersports are second to none in Egypt

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

There are many reasons to choose Egypt as a luxury holiday destination.  For some, Egypt’s year- round sunshine proves the major attraction with well-developed resorts, great beaches and excellent hotels.Ancient Egypt’s antiquities with the magnificent temples at Karnak, Luxor and Edfu and the Pyramids of course prove the greatest draw for many other visitors. For a growing number of tourists though, it’s the clear blue waters of the Red Sea that proves the irresistible draw for snorkelling or scuba diving in the beautiful coral reefs lining the coast.

If your idea of a luxury holiday is scuba diving or snorkelling, Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh are the places you should be!Hurghada Hotels cater for the single traveller, couples and families and are perfect for a relaxed beach holiday if that’s what you want or can be the ideal base for diving holidays in Egypt.  Those with a taste for luxury holidays are well catered for in Sharm el Sheikh hotels with a choice of sumptuous five-star resorts complete with private beaches and fantastic international cuisine.  Those on a tighter budget can base themselves in compact, family-friendly boutique-style three-star hotels that are intimate, welcoming and very human scale.

Hurghada’s warm Red Sea waters are ideal for the rare fish and coral reefs that make this place so popular with the diving community.   Most dive sites are suitable for all levels of diving ability, from outright novice to seasoned expert.Divers are rewarded with a rich and varied marine life that includes moray eels, turtles, grouper fish and blacktip sharks. The Bottlenose dolphin is particularly populous in Hurghada’s waters, and the chances of meeting pods on a dive are very good! And even if you are a non-diver, you can still enjoy the sights of the underwater world of the Red Sea by booking a trip on a small submarine where you can dive to a maximum depth of 22m with around 50 minutes of bottom time.

Egypt holidays to Hurghada can also take advantage of sports on, not just under, the water too! Hurghada is the top Red Sea destination for wind and kitesurfing and is rapidly gaining a great reputation as a wake-boarding destination too. Hurghada offers good, strong, winds throughout the year, sustained by the mountain ranges just behind the town and Giftun Island offshore. The coast is also fairly flat without fringing reefs, creating the perfect conditions for wind and kite surfing. Many Hurghada hotels also offer less extreme and more relaxed watersports from banana rides to snorkelling excursions, pedal boats, canoeing, catamarans, glass-bottom boats and parasailing.

If diving doesn’t float your boat so to speak, perhaps Nile Cruises past the ancient monuments and temples would be more suitable.

My Grenada holiday was absolutely stunning!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

I had enough of constantly working, it was time for me to do something for myself and go on a nice holiday somewhere. I had been to St Lucia on holiday a few years ago and had a great time, but decided that a new destination would be an enjoyable experience as well. After being to St Lucia i had already made my mind up that i wanted to go back to the Caribbean. I decided to have a little read about this island called Grenada, and i fell in love.

I hadn’t heard much about Grenada holidays, but I was still looking forward to it. I landed in Maurice Bishop International Airport and was greeted with some nutmeg and ginger. Interestingly this country had also got another name “Spice Isle”. This inspired me to go and check out some of the crop fields and farms. Afterwards i headed off to my luxurious hotel. The hotel i was going to be sleeping in was the Calabash Hotel, and it was unbelievably gorgeous. The swimming pool is right next to the clear blue ocean, providing a great view. The tourist industry is Grenada’s biggest money spinner and because of this they almost immediately treat their guests like they were kings or queens, I was pampered every day that I was there.

I headed out to one of the Chocolate factories; I just had to visit one. The tour around the factory was extremely cheap, and i was even given the chance to make some chocolate myself. The Calabash hotel also offers a variety of activities, one of which is the scuba diving centre. I definitely wasn’t going to be missing out on this, it was a truly brilliant activity to do in the Caribbean. We explored a small part of the ocean, I saw many different types of fish, I can’t remember their names, but I can remember the colours, oranges and blues everywhere.

This was a great holiday and if anyone is considering a holiday to the Caribbean, then try either St Lucia holidays or Grenada holidays. If you don’t fancy something like this, the only other one I can recommend is Egypt holidays.

Decisions, Decisions, Real Diving or the Seal life Centre?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Since the day that we could contain animals in these water tanks we have been going to see them. However slowly diving holidays have become even more popular than ever.

So why would you go to a sea life centre? What is so special about these places, well they give us the chance to see some truly amazing marine animals. After all whats the point in having these Sea Life Centres if were not going to be visiting them. Not to mention that the cost of this is unrecognisable compared to a flight across the world to Egypt. What’s the point in going on a diving holiday if you haven’t really thought about it.

There is a common misconception that these diving holidays are extremely expensive and only for those that can afford to embark on these luxury holidays. However these holidays are now really quite cheap. They are ideal for teaching people about the natural world and how things need to be kept as they are now. Come on your on holiday as well, that’s a great reason. So there is plenty of sun and sand, a few drinks and a dive in the ocean, preferably before drinks.

So although you can go straight to the sea life centre without travelling that far, do you really get that much of an experience out of it. These diving holidays do really give people the opportunity to experience something that a lot of others won’t do and not to mention you will probably have the most amazing time of your life. If you want to spice things up a little more then you can go shark diving, obviously for the more adventurous of the lot of you though, but these holidays are becoming extremely popular.

BT offering staff some new and creative holiday ideas!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

So if the company you worked for said “you can take a massive holiday but less pay” what would you do?

Well BT have come out and said that this is what they are going to be offering their employees. Basically if the employees want they are being given the chance to take a 25% stake of there annual wages and keep it for the rest of the year, but they wont receive any more, they will then have the rest of the year as time off. Another option that is really being pushed forward is to ask some employees to take a one thousand pound lump sum and then go part time for the rest of the year.

So what’s spurred this on? BT have just come out and said how much profit that they have lost this year, in-fact they have a lost a massive 1,3 billion pounds. It would appear that they think by cutting the costs of wages to their 100,000 employees that they could save a little bit of cash before getting into serious trouble.

So looking at this in a positive light, what do the employees get out of this? Some people will be able to spend time with the family. It is also voluntary, so employees don’t have to take any of the options up. This also means that some can embark on some very long trips or soul searching holidays. Relaxing St Lucia holidays or Egypt Holidays.

However there are problems with this as well, people wont be able to afford to go on any of these holidays. However people with children although may be able to spend more time with the family, they will find it hard to cope without the spending money. What are the main consequences that BT could be facing with this? Personally I believe that BT needs to find other ways of sorting out the business instead of letting its employees take the fall.

However if you are one of the lucky ones who can still afford Caribbean holidays, then you may as well enjoy the break.
