Manhattan’s Five Best Museums

New York City Hotel Deals

Its wonderful collection of fantastic museums is one of a great many things New York City is famous for. The most well known Manhattan museums are art museums such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, but in addition there are many other types of NYC museums like the American Museum of Natural History and a wax museum.

What follows is a quick summary of the 5 museums I just mentioned so that you can find out which of these museums you want to visit while in New York. Free entry to all of these NYC museums is a feature of the New York Pass.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art - This enormous museum is usually referred to as just “The Met” and while it’s primarily a museum for art it’s also really more than that. It’s a fantastic place to check out for anyone who’s into history. The only negative with museum is also its biggest positive; it is so huge that it can be a little bit overwhelming. It’s impossible to really see it all in a single day.

The Museum of Modern Art - The MoMA is aimed at art aficionado who are quite into modern painting. It includes works by Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh. I would say that this museum isn’t as “kid friendly” as the other museums listed here. If you have little ones they may squirm.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum - This museum is likely more famous for its incredible architectural design than the artwork inside of it. The circular building was designed by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright in the late 1950s. It is definitely worth going inside and checking it out (and of course the great artwork!) It is not as overwhelming as the Met and the MoMA.

The American Museum of Natural History - For most people I would say this should be the number one choice. It’s not only that it’s very “family friendly” but that I believe it’s more interesting to a larger group of people. I just do not see how anyone can’t be curious to see a dinosaur’s skeleton with their very own eyes. It is incredible to stand right next to these huge skeletons (not that all dinosaurs were enormous, of course - but some of them were!)

Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum - This is a very “family friendly” type place. Your children will probably get a real kick out of seeing life size wax versions of celebrities (both those alive and those no longer among the living.) It is pretty enjoyable for adults as well. It’s a great selection if you’re in a fun mood rather than a more serious mood.

Regardless of whether you would like to go to any of these museums or not, you should certainly make use of the New York Hotel Deals site to search for the lowest rates on hotel rooms in New York.

New York City Hotel Deals

There is such a huge amount of things to do in NYC that narrowing them down to a list of just 10 is nearly impossible. This particular list of ten things to do in NYC is focused on people who mostly want to do “tourist things” rather than those who want to experience “real New York City.”

1. The Empire State Building. The most famous building in the United States for about 80 years now and because of the horrible of 2001, it is once again the tallest skyscraper in Manhattan. Take a trip to the top of the building for an incredible view!

2. The Statue of Liberty. Ever since the French sent this statue to the United State it has been a great symbol of our country and the concept of freedom in general.

3. Food Tours. I strongly recommend taking a food tour! The food in Manhattan is fantastic.

4. Museum of Modern Art. I could easily fill this list up just with museums!

5. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. “The Met” is the most visited museum in the US.

6. Natural History Museum. If you have kids this is almost definitely the museum they will most appreciate. It’s really a fabulous museum for curious people of all ages.

7. On Location Tour. See famous sites from movies and television!

8. Bodies… The Exhibition. I actually think this is really creepy but if you are into viewing the bodies of deceased people up close then this is the thing for you.

9. Bicycle Rental at Central Park. Instead of just taking a walk in Central Park, you can rent a bike and take a ride through it.

10. Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. It’s amazing how real the wax statues look!

All 10 of these things are a part of the New York Pass. Read this New York Pass Review for more info.

No matter what you want to do while you are in “The Big Apple, you should certainly use New York Hotel Deals to make hotel reservations.?
