A news report theDestinlog.com states that Buddy Wilkes, Chairman of Bay County Tourist Development Council, is especially pleased about the perfect timing because the summer tourism season is just beginning in this beach region. Tourism Prospects Wilkes said that the number of bookings for rooms near to the beach is sure to increase this year, thanks to The Weather Channel’s award of the Best Beach title to Panama City Beach. The sprawling beaches deliver a breathtaking sight with white sands and emerald green waters. Many travelers also come here to catch sight of a loggerhead or green turtle making its way ashore to lay its eggs. Considering that The Weather Channel has brought national recognition to numerous seaside cities and beaches, this award is definitely quite an important one for this beach city. The Selection Process The best part about the award of the title is that the winner was literally chosen by a public poll. The fact that the beach has been voted best by the public increases the relevance and credibility of the title. Don’t Be Contained, Enjoy Sport Outside

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

The outside world is sadly all but forgotten about by lots of people now. A lot of children and adults alike would prefer to spend their hours inside watching television, increasing their risk of obesity and heart disease. Sport is one of the best ways to get outside, get moving and enjoy everything the world has to offer. Below are three examples of sports that use nature to its most and will certainly get your heart pumping?

Cycling
. They say you never forget how to ride a bike…so what is stopping you getting on one now. You can pick up good second hand bikes now for next to nothing and you can look up good cycle routes on the internet very easily. On top of this, with biking you can take it as easy or as vigorously as you like so you don’t have to worry if you’re unfit at the moment or are carrying an injury

Kayaking
. If you’re a little more adventurous and like being on the open water then kayaking is the sport for you. Like mountain bikes there are plenty of good kayaks around and all you need other than that is an oar and a life jacket. Make sure you get some training first so that you know what to do in the event of an accident, but after that you can go exploring to your heart content.

Surfing. If you’ve managed to stay dry in the kayak and fancy getting your hair wet then why not find some friends, grab a number of surfboards and hit the beach. People think that surfing is very hard but if you start of with body surfing and work up to standing as you get better, you’ll soon get the hang of it. Surfing is one of those sports that is very addictive so be prepared for wrinkly fingers
